Position Description
--The Product Designer is responsible for conceptualizing and documenting a solution (Functional Design Documents) to the problems identified in the requirements documents that Product Management creates.
--To accomplish this, The Product Designer conducts analysis of the market, technology, and competition, in terms of the user experience and interface design, early in the product life cycle and determines the user interface design direction. This includes development of storyboards, screen flow diagrams, wire-frames, prototypes, and other artifacts to validate the UI workflow solution.
--The Product Designer will in many cases work directly with the products end-users and other stake holders through multiple iterations of the design specification as they are built.
--The Product Designer may be charged with development some or all of the presentation layer components for the product development team.
Top Activities and Responsibilities
• Analyze requirements defined by product management and conceptualizing and document a solution
• Problem-solving and finding solutions to complex business process problems
• Work directly with the products end-users and other stake holders through multiple iterations of the design specification as they are built.
• Research and analyze possible 3rd party technologies, tools, and processes that would assist in meeting requirements
• Develop storyboards, screen flow diagrams, wire-frames, prototypes, and other artifacts to validate the UI workflow solution
• Develop some or all of the presentation layer components for the product development team.
• Drive Functional Design specifications from start to finish getting sign-off from stake holders
• Arranging meetings and liaising with other departments to discuss appropriate production processes and commercial issues
• Make design presentations to management, clients and development group, or to present design proposals
• Work with development to establish effort estimates
• take part in specialist or multidisciplinary team meetings
• Participate in quality assurance initiatives through functional testing and signoff
