Summary of duties
* Analyzes requirements provided by Product Management to enable the design of high value and high quality software products.
* Uses user feedback to determine optimal interactivity and navigational structure.
* Designs in a collaborative environment using incremental agile approach.
* Creates UI specifications to match product requirements and integrate with functional specifications
* Design screen layouts and interactions using UI standards and guidelines
* Ensures consistency in user interface designs of all products.
* Analyzes and synthesizes concepts into a relational hierarchy consisting of various types and formats of information, reference databases, and associated interface design access points.
* Defines, documents, and maintains company user interface standards for application development.
* Determines cognitive model, metaphors, guides, and other information structures underlying particular user interface systems.
* Contributes to functional specifications including user interaction model, workflow, information architecture, and user interface
* Assists in the development and testing of product prototypes to evaluate navigational structure, appearance of screens, and effectiveness of tools.
* Creates prototypes for new user interfaces.
Education and/or Experience
* Degree from accredited art school, college or university with emphasis in graphic design and composition, illustration, visual communications or related field or equivalent work experience, with demonstrated knowledge of design for professional software applications/solutions.
* Requires at least 2 years experience in a software UI design-related position for data intensive commercial software and have experience in the full software development lifecycle.
* Must be able to provide samples of functional specifications and other design documents written for commercial enterprise software (Desktop / Web).
* Usability testing experience a plus
* User research and human factors training a plus
* Experience within the product domain (Small Business Software) desirable
