Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Administer Windows servers.
* Provide support for Desktop PC's
* Work with Network Services to administer the LAN (local area network)
* Basic Administration of the Avaya telephone system.
* Coordinate internal and external 3rd party services
* Proactive involvement attending to the IT needs of the various development and business departments including long range planning.
Requirements:
* Install and configure Windows 2000 Server operating system and applications.
* Administer file and share permissions, print services, and group permissions. Monitor server hardware and software performance. Perform backups of the servers using ArcServe
* Knowledge of Windows operating systems, MS Office, Internet Explorer, MS Outlook, Norton Anti-Virus, Firewall software,
* Familiarity with Cisco switches and routers, connecting PC's to an Ethernet network, configuring ports on the switch and troubleshooting the local cable plant.
* Basic familiarity with PBX administration, preferably Avaya (Lucent). Adds, moves and changes of telephone handsets.
* May be required to transport, set-up, and maintain systems for special events such as trade shows or conferences.
* Willingness to travel, flexibility to work on special projects and "do what needs to be done".
* Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
* Ability to work independently and also as a team. Manage time efficiently. Long range planning skills.
* Requires at least two years on-the-job server/network administration experience in order to independently
maintain high level of network availability
Additional knowledge/skills:
* Project management skills
* Wireless networking
* Certification training such as MCSE and MCP.
* May be required to be on-call during specific times/projects.
