  Job Description
Job Description:

Under general direction, formulates / defines system scope and objectives for

applications / programs relating to a packaged software solution.
In addition to the individual*s technical proficiency, he/she also devises or

modifies procedures to solve complex problems.
Competent to work at a high technical level on all phases of an application

development lifecycle.

Contributes to a dynamic team environment.
May be responsible for completion of a phase of a project.
Regularly provides guidance and training to less experienced personnel.


*Bachelor*s degree or equivalent relevant certification in healthcare,

business management or information systems is required. Advanced or

specialized credentials desirable.

*Minimal of 4 years experience with implementing packaged software solutions.

*Health care industry experience required.

*Familiarity with tools and concepts of process improvement desired,

including the following: methods analysis, work sampling, statistical

analysis, financial analysis, and systems analysis.

*Proficiency in Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, MS Project, MS Visio (or

other flowcharting tool) is required.

*Must be able to prioritize, organize, and assess work in order to meet

deadlines. Proven ability to manage multiple requests, tasks, and

requirements. Excellent organization and time management skills.

*Must have issue tracking and resolution skills, and the ability and

commitment to meet aggressive deadlines and to cope in a fast-paced


*Solid understanding of information systems. Able to correlate business,

management and information technology functions. Solid knowledge of multiple

software applications, database structures/design, systems analysis/design

and web applications/design.

*Solid understanding of underlying technologies: hardware, networking,

Intranet, Internet, PDA, barcoding and wireless.

*Experience defining requirements and using packaged software development

methodologies. Ability to correlate between business, functional, and

technical requirements.

*Solid understanding of the technical implications of changes requested by

business users. Able to quickly articulate benefits, re-design and cost

implications of change requests. Leads and supports the user change request


*Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, and

effective presentation skills. Experience developing presentations for

project work. Meeting facilitation expertise.

*Capable of working well in a diverse team environment and successfully

interacting with others at all levels of the organization, including remote

teams. Ability to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor in both

normal and pressure situations. Ability to work independently.

*Proven skills in problem solving.

Must have experience with Sunquest lab system application support as well as

Epic lab interface support of at least 3 years.

A Medical Technologist certification is a plus.
