  Job Description
Our client requires you to be part of the Unix Server Systems team within the Infrastructure department.

Key Performance Areas:
*Collect, understand and document business requirements.
*Investigate and document solutions
*Create technical specifications
*Create and co-ordinate project plans
*Code, implement and test changes

Qualifications and knowledge required:
*A relevant tertiary qualification
*Knowledge of systems development lifecycle
*Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
*Proven SQL Server experience with T-SQL language skills
*Proven application development experience (web and desktop applications) using .NET
*Proven experience with C#, VB and VB.Net
*A good understanding of OO concepts
*Experience in co-ordinating projects with small teams

Your key performance areas will be:

*Providing complex systems administration, operational support and problem resolution for an AIX UNIX based system.
*Administration and maintenance of 20 production UNIX services.
*Installing applications, writing scripts, monitoring systems and enforcing standards.
*Performing hardware and software installations and upgrades.
*Monitoring system performance and capacity and reporting changes in usage to management.
*Forecasting system demands, recommending upgrades, expansion and reconfiguration as appropriate.
*Providing hardware troubleshooting and software problems, taking appropriate corrective action and/or interacting with IS staff or vendors in performing complex testing, supporting and troubleshooting functions; responding to problem situations and keeping users informed of status.
*Participating with other IS staff in site set up, user training, hardware and software installation, maintenance and support and documentation of hardware and software logs and operating procedures.
*Researching new technologies and recommending technical solutions to existing system issues.
*Performing adds, changes, deletes, disk space management, backups, and file restores.
*Documenting standards and operating procedures for the AIX UNIX system and acting as a technical resource to the IS staff and users.
*Providing guidance, assistance and training to less experienced staff.
*Participating in special projects and performing other duties as required
