To meet its early commitments for product delivery to a major telecom gear maker, COMNET International launched India COMNET as an offshore facility with the goal of using the half-day time difference to maximize software development employing a "follow-the-sun" method of operation.
In 1996, COMNET's technical team designed a new telemanagement product for managing switches in private networks.

Well versed in one or more of the following protocols:
o 802.1ad, 802.3ad, Metro Ethernet Bridging, MPLS, PWE3, STP/RSTP, RMON1/2, TCP/IP.
o Knowledge of the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) standards
o Hands on experience designing, implementing, and integrating embedded firmware for communications products
o Experience working with real-time debugging and profiling tools
o Familiarity with the Motorola Power PC family of microprocessors
o Experience working with redundant systems
o Extensive experience with Intelligent Switch Solution (ISS) workgroup or other L2/L3 switching and routing
solutions software packages
o Ability to interface with and write microcode for Network Processors - preferably the Xelerated X11
o Experience working with QoS and traffic management chips - preferably the Dune FAP20 Proficient in C/C++
o Real time operating systems vxWorks/Linux.
