Provide Level 1 24 x 7 Support on a rotational basis.
Review and Execute Application and System changes on weekends.
Setup, Schedule, monitor, and troubleshoot DB2 Utilities which include Image Copies, Reorgs, Runstats, Unloads, Loads and others.
Setup, Schedule, monitor, and troubleshoot IMS Utilities which include Image Copies, Reorgs, Runstats, Unloads, Loads and others.
Work closely with both Application and System DB2 DBAs to set up and execute Changes and Upgrades to DB2.
Work closely with both Application and System IMS DBAs to set up and execute Changes and Upgrades to DB2.
Work with other Mainframe support groups such as CICS, Z/OS , Scheduling, Automation.
Support monthly IPL for DB2 and IMS. Must be on conference call for duration.
Participate in Incident and problem management activities for IMS and DB2.
Do data refresh activities for QA testing environment for IMS and Db2 Qualifications:
Proficient with DB2, IMS Commands, some MVS Commands.
Understands IMS and DB2 Utilities and their function's for object/database maintenance.
Understand DB2 Messages, SQLCODES, IMS Messages and IMS abend codes.
Understands basic Storage management and how it's managed in DB2 and IMS.
Current experience with DB2 and IMS databases in a large environment.
Understand DB2 Catalog/Directory and Datasharing – System Structures, and data that they contain.
Understand IMS data sharing and related Coupling Facility structures.
Understand IMS PSB's, DBD's and ACB's.
Basic WLM understanding.
Basic understanding of DB2 Stored Procedures and DB2 Data Propagation.
Familiar with DB2 Objects, database, tablespace, tables, indexes, packages.
Basic understanding of DB2 explain, IMS PSB and DBD Map.
Understand DB2 Distributive Data – familiar with the DB2 connect, TCP/IP, CDB.
Must be able to work independently.
Good mainframe skills such as TSO, JCL, SDSF, SAR.
Experience with DB2 monitoring tool like Omegamon or Mainview.
Very basic understanding of DB2 and IMS trace facilities and SMF data.
Good problem solving skills.
Good communication and team player.
Be able to multi-task
