Optical HW Design Engineer Skill requirements
1. Optical component Testing skills:
Knowledge of industry standards for optical components.
Optical parametric testing experience including power, extinction ratio, eye mask, attenuation, dispersion, wavelength and spectral characteristics.
Electrical parametric testing experience including LOS, transmitter fault and disable, I2C serial data interfaces.
Optical Transmission testing experience including synchronous and packet-based protocols; SONET, SDH, Ethernet.
Experience with Optical transmission performance measurements, including bit error rate, jitter generation and tolerance, receiver sensitivity, LOS assertion/de-assertion etc.
Good understanding of fiber varieties and specifications. Optical connector types and interface "cleanliness".
Good understanding of Clock and data recovery schemes, serializer/de-serializer technologies.
Experience doing environmental testing.
Knowledge of Forward error correction standards and methods.
