  Job Description
The System Administrator Linux will be responsible for effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of Linux Systems and related IT infrastructure. The role will work with the local and global teams to develop Enterprise Linux standards and ensure that they are implemented and enforced as needed.
Responsible for installing and maintaining Linux workstations and servers
Troubleshoot hardware/software issues
Diagnose and solve problems related to Linux Workstation and server infrastructure
Routinely perform upgrades to the existing server systems on as needed basis
Diagnose and solve problems related to network connectivity
Support end users access to the network locally and remote
Work with Development and Services teams to support their systems
Deploy and maintain hardware and software for product development
A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Linux Systems Administrator
Excellent knowledge of various Linux distributions/UNIX OS
Excellent knowledge of Storage and backup systems
Experience using Monitoring tools like Nagios, Ganglia
Good Knowledge on virtualization technologies
Good Knowledge on networking and security
Demonstrated skills installing, configuring and maintaining the following:
OS: Redhat and SuSE Linux
Authentication: Kerberos, NIS, Active Directory
Network: NFS, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, UDP, IP Routing, SAMBA/CIFS, etc.
Proven ability to identify and remedy hardware and software failures
Experience installing and configuring workstations, and peripherals
User support experience, including remote support
Excellent Communication Skills
Certifications like RHCE is preferred
Knowledge of SAN, Enterprise Backup and HPC cluster
Experience with various scripting Languages
Detailed understanding of distributed computer environment concepts including NFS, NIS, DFS, DNS, TCP/IP, Ethernet
Evaluate, recommend hardware and software specifications to support various projects
Good task and time management skills
Self-motivated with excellent problem solving skills and an ability to work independently
Should be able to work on the phone/computer for an extended period of time
