Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Ab Initio Developer & Support Engineer with strong expertise in ETL development, production support, and data integration solutions. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in designing, developing, deploying, and supporting Ab Initio applications while ensuring smooth operation of critical data processing systems. The role requires a blend of development and L2/L3 support responsibilities, including troubleshooting production issues, performance optimization, workflow orchestration, and stakeholder communication.

Key Responsibilities:

Ab Initio Development:

  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL graphs using Ab Initio Graphical Development Environment (GDE).
  • Develop and manage batch workflows using Ab Initio Conduct>IT, including creation and maintenance of Plans for job orchestration and dependency management.
  • Utilize Ab Initio Co>Operating System for distributed data processing and ETL execution.
  • Build scalable and efficient data pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from multiple data sources.
  • Develop reusable Ab Initio components, parameterized graphs, and metadata-driven frameworks.
  • Implement parallelism, partitioning, and performance tuning techniques for large-scale data processing.
  • Work with Ab Initio Metadata Hub for metadata management, data lineage, and governance.
  • Develop complex transformations using components such as Reformat, Join, Rollup, Scan, Partition, Sort, and Lookup.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Maintain ETL process documentation, data flow diagrams, and technical specifications.

Production Support:

  • Provide L2/L3 production and non-production support for Ab Initio applications and ETL platforms.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve application, batch, and data processing issues within SLA timelines.
  • Analyze Ab Initio logs, debug ETL jobs, and identify root causes of failures.
  • Perform job execution, restart, recovery, and validation activities.
  • Execute Ab Initio filesystem purge activities and manage storage utilization.
  • Work with Control Center for monitoring and operational support.
  • Support MFSSerial and filesystem-related activities.
  • Provide timely resolution for critical incidents and operational issues.
  • Coordinate with business users and senior stakeholders during issue resolution and incident management.
  • Participate in on-call support and 24x7 rotational shifts as required.

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in Ab Initio development and/or production support.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Ab Initio GDE
    • Ab Initio Conduct>IT
    • Ab Initio Co>Operating System
    • Ab Initio Metadata Hub
    • Control Center
  • Experience in designing, developing, and supporting enterprise ETL applications.
  • Strong knowledge of ETL concepts, data warehousing, and data integration.
  • Good understanding of workflow orchestration and dependency management.
  • Strong SQL, Oracle SQL, and PL/SQL skills.
  • Good experience in Unix/Linux environments and Shell Scripting.
  • Knowledge of Unix commands such as: ps, top, grep, find, awk, ls, vi, scp, sftp
  • Experience in debugging Ab Initio jobs, log analysis, and performance tuning.
  • Understanding of parallel processing, partitioning, and ETL optimization techniques.
  • Exposure to relational databases, flat files, and API-based integrations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance (BFSI), Capital Markets, or large enterprise environments.
  • Exposure to incident management, change management, and release processes.
  • Knowledge of scheduling tools and enterprise batch processing environments.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery models
