Description

You will manage, analyze, and maintain accounts and ledgers for a state agency, ensuring compliance with public accounting standards and government regulations.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile accounts and subsidiary ledgers with the general ledger.
• Post transactions to revenue summary journals and prepare financial reports from the revenue system.
• Prepare, correct, and adjust entries prior to closing accounts.
• Review accounts for fund availability before encumbrances and ensure contractual obligations are met.
• Assist in preparing program area budget requests and recommend improvements to accounting policies and procedures.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles.
• Specialized knowledge of public accounting theories, principles, and practices.
• Knowledge of federal and state laws, policies, and procedures regarding government accounting.
• Working knowledge of automated accounting systems.
• Ability to prepare and interpret financial statements and reports.
• Proficiency in performing accurate arithmetic calculations.
• Ability to solve standard accounting problems and evaluate existing policies.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of agency function and organization.
