Description

You will manage and maintain accounts and ledgers for a state agency. You will reconcile accounts and subsidiary ledgers with the general ledger, post transactions to revenue summary journals, and prepare financial reports from the revenue system.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile accounts and subsidiary ledgers with the general ledger.
• Post transactions to revenue summary journals and prepare financial reports.
• Analyze procurement activity, create purchase order receipts, and manage fund disbursement.
• Monitor the flow of appropriated funds and verify ledger input in computerized accounting systems.
• Review accounts for fund availability and ensure contractual obligations are met before depositing funds.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in accounting or related roles.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Specialized knowledge of public accounting theories, principles, and practices.
• Knowledge of federal and state laws, policies, and procedures regarding government accounting.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word.
• Working knowledge of automated accounting systems.
• Ability to prepare and interpret financial statements and reports.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Ability to assist in budget preparation and evaluate existing accounting policies.
• Ability to recommend changes to accounting policies and assist in developing new procedures.
