Senior AI & Automation Engineer

US-Based Pharmaceutical Client (Offshore Delivery Model)

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on AI & Automation Engineer to build LLM-powered automation for a major US-based pharmaceutical client. This is a builder role: you'll spend most of your time designing and shipping production workflows in n8n and Python, integrating LLMs with enterprise systems, and turning ambiguous business problems into working solutions. You'll collaborate with a senior lead and client stakeholders, but the core of the job is engineering, not managing.

What You'll Do

• Build end-to-end LLM-powered automation using n8n, Python, and agentic workflow patterns
• Develop intelligent document processing, compliance automation, and regulatory workflow features
• Write Python utilities, APIs, and integrations (FastAPI/Flask) that extend automation capabilities
• Integrate LLMs with APIs, databases, and enterprise systems; implement RAG, function calling, and prompt engineering
• Add monitoring, logging, and observability to production AI/automation systems
• Build POCs and move promising experiments into production
• Ensure your work meets pharmaceutical compliance, data security, and validation requirements
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and agile delivery as a contributing team member

Required Technical Skills

Must-Have

• Python: 4+ years production experience — FastAPI/Flask, pandas, async, API development
• n8n: 1.5+ years hands-on building complex workflows, custom nodes, integrations
• LLM orchestration: Claude API, OpenAI, or similar — prompt engineering, RAG, function calling/tool use
• Agentic workflows: Familiarity with multi-agent patterns and LLM-based automation
• APIs & integration: RESTful design, OAuth/JWT, webhooks, third-party integrations
• Databases: SQL (PostgreSQL preferred), JSONB, data pipelines, ETL basics
• Cloud: AWS (Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway) or equivalent; serverless basics
• Version control & DevOps: Git workflows, CI/CD exposure, Docker basics

Nice to Have

• Regulated-industry experience (pharma, healthcare, financial services)
• HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11, GxP, or FDA validation familiarity
• CRM integrations (HubSpot, Salesforce)
• Vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate) and semantic search
• Terraform / AWS CDK
• Claude Code, MCP servers, or advanced LLM tooling

Soft Skills

• Clear written and verbal English; able to explain technical work to non-technical colleagues
• Comfortable with partial overlap with US Eastern time zones
• Strong problem decomposition; can take an ambiguous ticket and run with it
• Documentation discipline for the systems you build
• Testing mindset — unit/integration tests and validation for AI systems

Experience & Education

• Bachelor's or Master's in CS, Engineering, or related field
• 4–7 years of software development experience
• 1.5+ years working with LLMs, AI/ML platforms, or intelligent automation
• Prior offshore/distributed-team experience supporting US/EU clients is a plus

Work Environment

• Location: Offshore (India)
• Hours: 4–5 hours overlap with US Eastern
• Team: Contributing member of a small engineering pod; reports to a Tech Lead
• Client exposure: Moderate — demos and working sessions, but not the primary stakeholder owner
