Administer, configure, and maintain the Alation data catalog platform, ensuring high availability and performance.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Install, upgrade, and patch the Alation platform (cloud or on-premise) while managing user roles, groups, and access controls.
• Schedule metadata ingestion from databases, BI tools, and cloud platforms, supporting data stewards with glossary creation and lineage tracking.
• Configure connectors for Snowflake, BigQuery, Tableau, and Power BI, using APIs and scripting to automate metadata extraction.
• Implement data governance policies, including classification, tagging, and secure access to sensitive assets.
• Serve as the primary support contact, conducting user onboarding and maintaining documentation and training materials.

Required Skills

• 5+ years in data platform administration with 1+ years specific to Alation or similar data catalog tools.
• Hands-on experience with SQL and scripting languages (Python, Shell).
• Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data lineage.
• Experience integrating with data platforms like Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks, or BigQuery.
• Experience integrating with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
