Description

Own Android platform stability, reliability, and middleware development by debugging complex issues in AOSP, system_server, and native components.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Android background services and middleware for platform-level functionality.
• Debug and reverse-engineer complex issues directly from Android Open Source Project (AOSP) source code.
• Resolve Android upgrade and integration issues, including black screen, boot failure, and ANR problems.
• Diagnose and fix bugs in system_server components (Activity Manager, Window Manager, Package Manager) and Car Service.
• Address compliance test failures across CTS, VTS, ATS, and STS.

Required Skills

• 3+ years of hands-on Android platform/framework development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin for writing and maintaining Android background services and middleware components.
• Hands-on experience debugging and modifying native Android components (SurfaceFlinger, HAL layers) in C++.
• Ability to read, debug, and modify Java-based Android framework code (system_server internals) and design AIDL/Binder interfaces.
• Proven experience contributing to or modifying AOSP source code.
• Track record of resolving complex, low-level Android stability issues and unknown bugs.
• Experience working across the full Android stack: framework, native services, and vendor layers.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Android Automotive OS (AAOS), Car Service, HAL, and vendor integration.
• Familiarity with native debugging tools (gdb, lldb, perfetto, systrace) and Android build systems (Soong/Make).
