The API Governance Lead establishes and manages the enterprise API governance framework, ensuring secure, scalable, and compliant APIs across the organization.

This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain the enterprise-wide API governance framework, including policies, standards, and operating procedures.
• Define API lifecycle management standards covering design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and retirement.
• Govern REST, GraphQL, SOAP, and event-driven API architectures, ensuring consistency in versioning, naming, and documentation.
• Implement API security standards aligned with industry frameworks, including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, mTLS, and threat protection.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Cyber Security, and Engineering teams to drive API-first adoption and mitigate risks.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of IT experience, with minimum 8 years in API Management, Enterprise Architecture, or API Governance.
• Strong expertise in REST APIs, GraphQL, SOAP Services, and Event-Driven Architecture.
• Proficiency with API security protocols: OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), JWT, mTLS, and OWASP API Security Top 10.
• Experience with API Management tools such as Azure API Management, Apigee, MuleSoft, or AWS API Gateway.
• Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger and AsyncAPI specifications.
• Proven experience working in Agile and DevSecOps environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.

Preferred Skills

• Master's degree in a relevant technical field.
• Experience implementing API governance programs in large enterprises.
