Description

You will design and own the end-to-end architecture for Kong Konnect and Kong Gateway across on-premise and GCP environments.

Responsibilities

• Own the control plane and data plane architecture for Kong Konnect and Kong Gateway.
• Lead ARB reviews, target architecture design, security, HADR, observability, and performance scalability.
• Define API governance standards, design-first approaches, and lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with Security, Network, Infrastructure, and Product teams to implement architecture.
• Manage API security patterns including mTLS, OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, API keys, rate limiting, and WAF.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience in integration and API architecture.
• Proven track record leading at least two enterprise API gateway programs.
• Expertise in Kong Konnect Gateway architecture, decK, declarative configuration, workspaces, and RBAC.
• Experience with GCP (VPC, load balancing), Linux, and networking fundamentals.
• Proficiency in CI/CD and IaC using Git, Git branching, and Terraform pipelines.
• Implementation of observability tools such as Dynatrace and logging.
• Knowledge of secrets and certificate management.
• Application of audit and compliance controls.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Apigee to Kong migration programs and multi-org/multi-region topologies.
• Knowledge of SRE, chaos engineering, resilience patterns, and service mesh (Istio, Linkerd).
• Capability in cost-performance optimization and capacity sizing for high-TPS gateways.
