Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain DB2 for z/OS databases in production and non-production environments
Perform database design, schema changes, and object maintenance (tables, indexes, views, stored procedures)
Monitor and tune DB2 performance, including SQL optimization, buffer pools, and subsystem parameters
Manage database backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high availability processes
Execute database migrations, upgrades, and version maintenance
Support application development teams with database-related design reviews and troubleshooting
Implement and enforce database security, access controls, and compliance standards
Troubleshoot and resolve DB2-related incidents and performance issues
Automate routine DBA tasks using JCL, REXX, or scheduling tools
Participate in on-call support and planned maintenance activities as required
Required Qualifications
3–5 years of experience as a DB2 DBA in a mainframe (z/OS) environment
Strong working knowledge of DB2 for z/OS architecture, utilities, and subsystems
Experience with DB2 utilities such as REORG, RUNSTATS, COPY, RECOVER, LOAD, UNLOAD
Proficiency in SQL and understanding of access path analysis (EXPLAIN)
Experience with TSO/ISPF, JCL, and basic mainframe operations
Familiarity with performance monitoring tools (e.g., OMEGAMON, DB2 PM, or equivalent)
Understanding of database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with IBM tools (e.g., Data Studio, DB2 Administration Tool)
Knowledge of CICS, IMS, or batch processing environments
Exposure to change management and release processes
Experience supporting high-volume, high-availability transactional systems
Prior experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments
