Job Summary:

The Senior Application Engineering Lead is responsible for providing technical leadership and oversight for Java-based application portfolios, focusing on architecture, software engineering, modernization, performance optimization, security compliance, and delivery of enhancements. This role ensures high-quality, secure, and modernized applications through collaboration with cross-functional teams and adherence to best practices.

Responsibilities:

• Lead technical design and development activities for Java-based applications.
• Provide architecture oversight and enforce engineering governance.
• Manage application modernization initiatives and reduce technical debt.
• Support system integration, API development, and data management.
• Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex production issues.
• Review code quality, security compliance, and engineering best practices.
• Support Authority to Operate (ATO) compliance, vulnerability remediation, and security scanning.
• Collaborate with DevSecOps teams to implement automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop system architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and migration strategies.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 7+ years supporting Java enterprise applications.
• Experience with AWS cloud environments.
• Knowledge of application modernization in federal programs.
• Proficiency with Java, WildFly, OpenLiberty, and Oracle 19c.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, SonarQube, and security scanning platforms.
• Familiarity with Red Hat Linux environments.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with AWS RDS and cloud database management.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and automated pipeline implementation.
• Familiarity with federal compliance standards and ATO processes
