Description

Lead development and maintenance of IBM i systems, refactoring legacy code and building modern APIs.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Refactor legacy RPG/400 code into modular, reusable RPG ILE modules.
• Design and build RESTful APIs (POST/GET/PUT) using JSON principles.
• Implement complex SQL queries within the DB2 environment.
• Utilize service programs to extend IBM i application functionality.
• Document design and unit tests for developed components.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience with IBM i /iSeries.
• Proficiency in RPGLE and Free format RPG.
• Expertise in SQLRPGLE, DB2, and Control Language.
• Experience with DDS for screen design, including SUBFILEs.
• Understanding of RESTful API design and implementation.
• Proficiency with JSON data formats.
• Experience with version control systems (Aldon/Turnover/ARCAD preferred).
• Familiarity with Service Programs on IBM i.
• Ability to use Rational Developer for i.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of Webservice Application Manager or Insomnia/Postman.
• Exposure to cloud platform integrations such as AWS.
