Description

Define and enforce API governance standards across the organization, driving design consistency, security compliance, and lifecycle management.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Define enterprise API design standards using OpenAPI 3.x, including naming, error handling, and payload conventions.
• Establish OAuth2/OIDC standards, JWT claims structure, rate limiting, and gateway policy standards.
• Create reusable Swagger templates, domain models, and API lifecycle strategies (Design through Retire).
• Lead API Design Review Boards and conduct API threat modeling and security reviews.
• Integrate Swagger validation into CI/CD and publish governance playbooks and standards documentation.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of enterprise integration experience.
• Strong expertise in OpenAPI/Swagger and REST principles.
• Experience with API Gateways (Apigee, Kong, Azure APIM, or AWS API Gateway).
• Deep understanding of microservices architecture.
• Proven experience implementing API governance at scale.
• Experience with versioning and backward compatibility strategies.

Preferred Skills

• SmartBear Swagger Studio or SwaggerHub experience.
• Cloud-native architecture experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Exposure to regulatory environments (SOX, HIPAA, GDPR).
