Description

Architect and deliver REST-based microservices on Amazon EKS, designing secure, scalable cloud-native applications.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Architect and deploy containerized workloads on Amazon EKS, selecting appropriate AWS compute services for each use case.
• Develop backend NodeJS REST APIs using Fastify/NextJS with a focus on performance and security.
• Manage Kubernetes deployments, services, ingress rules, autoscaling, and workload security configurations.
• Design secure API exposure using API Gateway, Application Load Balancer, and AWS-native integration services.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership, mentoring development teams on cloud-native design and CI/CD adoption.

Required Skills

• 10+ years in application development or cloud architecture with a strong focus on cloud-native microservices.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Amazon ECS, EKS, and Kubernetes (deployments, services, ingress, autoscaling, RBAC, networking).
• Strong expertise in NodeJS for building RESTful services, specifically using the NestJS framework.
• Solid background in Docker containerization and runtime optimization.
• Experience with databases and caching services including Amazon RDS/Aurora/DynamoDB and ElastiCache.
• Proficiency in AI-native development environments and integrated coding assistants, specifically Kiro, Cursor, and VSCode.
• Strong understanding of AWS compute, networking, storage, and integration services relevant to microservices.
• Experience implementing secure authentication and authorization using Cognito, JWTs, IAM, or similar frameworks.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, asynchronous messaging, or service mesh patterns.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
