Description

Architect and deliver REST-based microservices on Amazon EKS, ensuring secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud-native applications.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement backend NodeJS REST APIs using Fastify or NextJS with a focus on performance and security.
• Build and maintain Kubernetes deployments, including services, ingress rules, autoscaling, and workload security configurations on EKS.
• Secure API exposure using API Gateway, Application Load Balancer, and AWS-native integration services.
• Implement secure access patterns via IAM roles, IRSA, VPC endpoints, and private networking.
• Develop architectural blueprints and provide technical leadership to mentor engineering teams on cloud-native best practices.

Required Skills

• 10+ years in application development or cloud architecture with deep expertise in cloud-native microservices.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Amazon EKS, ECS, and Kubernetes (RBAC, networking, autoscaling).
• Strong proficiency in NodeJS for building RESTful services, specifically using the NestJS framework.
• Solid background in Docker containerization, runtime optimization, and AWS compute/storage services.
• Experience with databases and caching (Amazon RDS/Aurora/DynamoDB, ElastiCache).
• Proficiency in AI-native development environments including Kiro, Cursor, and VSCode.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across application, container, and AWS infrastructure layers.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with React, event-driven architectures, service mesh patterns, and data services like Athena/Iceberg.
• Proficiency in CI/CD, GitOps, and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch) and agentic AI frameworks (Strands).
