Location: Hybrid – Reston, VA / Washington, DC (Meetings a few times per month)

Job Summary
CareFirst BCBS FEPOC is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Automation & Administration Engineer to join its Cloud Platform Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing, implementing, automating, and supporting enterprise AWS cloud environments while driving infrastructure automation, platform engineering, and cloud transformation initiatives.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on AWS platform administration, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, Kubernetes (EKS), CI/CD, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of overall IT experience
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on AWS Cloud Engineering/Administration experience
- Strong AWS Platform Engineering and Automation experience
- AWS Certification (Mandatory)
- 2–3+ years of Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service)
- Strong Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK)
- Python scripting experience
- Linux Administration and Shell Scripting
- CI/CD using Jenkins
- Kubernetes & Docker experience
- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) experience (3–5 years preferred)

Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and administer enterprise AWS Cloud infrastructure.
- Build Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and CloudFormation.
- Develop cloud automation using Python, Lambda, and Bash scripting.
- Deploy and manage Kubernetes (Amazon EKS) environments.
- Support enterprise cloud transformation initiatives.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
- Monitor cloud platform stability, availability, and performance.
- Troubleshoot production issues and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Collaborate with architects, developers, security teams, and infrastructure teams.
- Support disaster recovery, automation, and cloud governance initiatives.
- Mentor engineering team members and promote cloud engineering best practices.
