Description

Manage and optimize distributed NoSQL databases, primarily Cassandra and Couchbase, ensuring high availability and performance at scale.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Administer and tune Cassandra clusters, handling expansion, capacity planning, replication strategies, and compaction.
• Execute database backup and recovery operations using NodeTool snapshots, CBQ, and DataStax OpsCenter.
• Perform SSTable migration and data movement across live clusters with minimal downtime.
• Monitor system health using DSE OpsCenter, Prometheus, and Grafana to troubleshoot and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate requirements and recommend scalable database architectures.

Required Skills

• 7+ years of experience managing distributed NoSQL databases, specifically Cassandra and Couchbase.
• Deep understanding of Cassandra internals, including Gossip protocol, peer-to-peer communication, and incremental repairs.
• Hands-on expertise with Cassandra administration tools (nodetool, dsetool) and Couchbase tools (cbq).
• Proficiency in cloud platforms AWS and GCP for managing multi-instance, multi-tenant server environments.
• Strong SQL skills and working knowledge of relational databases like PostgreSQL.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Jira, and Rally for project tracking and deployment.

Preferred Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Proven track record of 3+ years in similar database administration roles.
