Description

You will own the architecture and implementation of scalable, high-performance solutions using Azure Cosmos DB.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Optimize data modeling, partitioning, indexing, and throughput provisioning strategies for Cosmos DB.
• Monitor and manage Cosmos DB performance, availability, capacity, and security.
• Design and implement backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Tune and troubleshoot Cosmos DB queries, latency issues, and performance bottlenecks.
• Support migrations from legacy databases to Azure Cosmos DB.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of overall IT experience, with 8+ years in database administration or architecture.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Azure Cosmos DB in a production environment.
• Strong understanding of Cosmos DB APIs (SQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Gremlin).
• Deep knowledge of partitioning, consistency models, throughput (RU/s), and indexing.
• Proficiency in NoSQL data modeling and distributed system design.
• Experience with Azure-native services (Azure Functions, Event Hubs, Azure Monitor).
• Proficiency in scripting using Python or PowerShell.
• Experience with security, access control, and encryption in Azure.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and monitoring tools within Azure.
