Description

You will lead the design and development of scalable backend systems within a Ruby on Rails environment.

This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain high-performance backend systems and APIs to support SaaS growth.
• Architect system migrations and re-architectures to ensure long-term scalability and reliability.
• Conduct code reviews and uphold engineering standards across the team.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and tune middleware and database components for efficiency.
• Manage incident response, including root cause investigation and implementation of permanent fixes.

Required Skills

• 7+ years of experience designing, developing, and operating web applications with Ruby on Rails.
• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• Proficiency in API design principles and RESTful services.
• Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Hands-on experience with test design and operation using RSpec, MiniTest, Jest, or Playwright.
• Experience with service-oriented or microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, specifically AWS.
• Ability to perform architecture design and technology selection.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Java, Kotlin, React, or Vue.js.
• In-depth expertise in designing and maintaining microservices architecture.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and SaaS environments.
