Description

Build and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines in a healthcare data environment. This role owns the development of calculation and risk engines that process large volumes of claims and clinical data.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize calculation/risk engines for processing large-scale claims and clinical data.
• Build and maintain production-grade backend services, APIs, and batch/stream data pipelines.
• Write well-tested code, participate in code reviews, and manage CI/CD and on-call rotations.
• Partner with product and data teams to translate requirements into reliable, performant services.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience in backend development.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Python, and SQL.
• Experience deploying and operating workloads on AWS (ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3).
• Hands-on experience with microservices, event-driven architecture, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Proficiency with large-scale data processing tools such as Spark, Airflow, and dbt.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, specifically Terraform.
• Knowledge of relational database design and query optimization.
• Familiarity with healthcare, claims, or EHR data is preferred.

Preferred Skills

• Direct exposure to healthcare or claims data environments.
• Experience with complex risk engine logic.
