Description

Design, implement, and maintain server-side components for geospatial applications supporting emergency response capabilities.

Architect scalable backend systems to process, store, and retrieve geospatial data. Integrate GIS databases, mapping APIs, and geospatial sources to enable location-based services. Develop RESTful APIs and web services to facilitate frontend-backend communication. Implement data validation, authentication, and access control to secure geospatial data and user information. Collaborate with GIS specialists and frontend developers to define data schemas and API endpoints.

Responsibilities

Required Skills

• 8-10+ years of backend development experience with recent hands-on geospatial work.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Node.js.
• Experience with web frameworks: Django, Flask, Spring Boot, or Express.js.
• Strong knowledge of spatial databases (PostgreSQL/PostGIS or MongoDB).
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Working knowledge of Git for version control.
• Competency in testing frameworks: JUnit, Mockito, or PyTest.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools like New Relic and Splunk.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with public safety communication systems and NG911 standards.
