Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain the Backstage.io Internal Developer Portal.
• Build and customize Backstage plugins using TypeScript, Node.js, and React.
• Develop and manage Software Catalog entities and automate catalog ingestion.
• Create and maintain Software Templates (Scaffolder) for standardized application creation.
• Implement and manage TechDocs to centralize engineering documentation.
• Integrate Backstage with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, and ArgoCD.
• Integrate cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Configure authentication and authorization using OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, and RBAC.
• Automate developer workflows and enable self-service infrastructure provisioning.
• Work closely with Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, and development teams to improve developer experience.
• Monitor platform performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability.
• Stay updated with Backstage community releases, plugins, and best practices.

Required Skills

• Strong experience with Backstage.io implementation and customization.
• Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, and React.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with Git, GitHub, GitLab, and version control workflows.
• Understanding of REST APIs and microservices architecture.
• Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, or PowerShell).
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on Backstage.io development experience.
• Experience with Platform Engineering or Internal Developer Platforms (IDP).
• Knowledge of observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Dynatrace.
• Experience contributing to Backstage open-source plugins is a plus.
