Description

Lead the design and simulation of lithium battery systems from concept to production launch. You will own the full product lifecycle, managing design, prototyping, and production ramp-up to optimize performance, weight, and cost.

Responsibilities

• Develop FEA models to simulate electro-mechanical phenomena, including expansion/contraction stress on welds and glued parts.
• Create reduced order models and utilize 3D design tools to develop intricate battery components and assemblies.
• Define precise technical specifications for dimensions, functionality, and manufacturability.
• Release accurate 2D part and assembly drawings and collaborate with manufacturing, testing, NPI, and supply chain teams.
• Bring CAD designs to life through hands-on prototyping and define test plans for validation.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of professional experience in battery or electromechanical design.
• Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural, fluid, and electro-thermal simulations.
• Hands-on experience with ABAQUS, COMSOL, or ANSYS/FLUENT.
• Proficiency in coding to develop user interfaces for testing and analysis.
• Experience defining test plans, designing test setups, and analyzing resulting data.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding, metal stamping, welding, brazing, and bonding.
• Ability to design for both manual and automated high-volume assembly.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with SOLIDWORKS.
• Experience with Pseudo-2D models (PyBaMM), single particle models, Python, Pandas, or Scikit-learn.
• Direct machine shop experience.
