You will develop fundamental models to characterize batteries and support design, development, and material research.
Responsibilities
- Develop 3D thermal-electrochemical models coupling electrochemical reactions, diffusion, expansion, and thermal effects.
- Use models to optimize material property design, pre-lithiation processes, and predict cell or pack temperature profiles.
- Simulate local shorting and analyze the effects of Li non-uniformity and high C-rates on performance.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, testing, NPI, and sales teams to communicate modeling insights.
- Create intellectual property and represent technical products at industry conferences.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in building thermo-electrochemical models using ABAQUS, COMSOL, GT, or Ansys/FLUENT.
- Experience in battery electrochemistry and electrode structure design.
- Expertise in creating reduced order models for practical applications.
- Background in chemical engineering, electrochemistry, or battery modeling.
- At least 5 years of professional work experience.
- Degree in engineering, physics, chemistry, or a related discipline.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Pseudo-2D models (PyBaMM) and single particle models.
- Proficiency in Python, including Pandas, Scikit-learn, optimization algorithms, and visualization libraries.
