Description

You manage BigQuery infrastructure, security, and performance tuning while maintaining MySQL high availability and backup strategies.

This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Manage BigQuery slots, organization-level settings, and storage (physical vs. logical).
• Monitor user long-running queries, tune performance, and handle data restoration.
• Implement column-level security, authorized views, and manage access controls.
• Define MySQL high availability options, backup strategies, and replication methods.
• Oversee database monitoring, including restore operations for deleted data or objects.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience with BigQuery administration and management.
• Deep knowledge of BigQuery architecture, including slot management and columnar database advantages.
• Proficiency in MySQL high availability, backup strategies, and replication.
• Experience with security implementations: column-level security and authorized views.
• Ability to monitor and optimize long-running queries and resource usage.
• Understanding of storage management (physical and logical) in cloud data warehouses.
• Experience with data restoration and object recovery procedures.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with automated monitoring and alerting for database performance.
• Familiarity with additional cloud data warehouse tools beyond BigQuery.
