Description

You will support BigQuery Omni, an external-facing multi-cloud product, by handling on-call issues and improving internal processes for deployments and testing.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Reduce on-call toil by inspecting Omni bugs, AWS/Azure pushers, and component releases during working hours.
• Solve common issues such as retries from transient deployment failures and unlock annealing.
• Document initial investigations in bugs and route them to the appropriate team, including Infra team owners or other BQ teams.
• Own ongoing interactions with routed teams to ensure resolution.
• Drive documentation improvements, including creating and refactoring documentation as part of the learning process.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Java / J2EE.
• Experience with C++ or C#.
• Deep understanding of BigQuery and multi-cloud environments.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure services.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure and deployment issues.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with cloud roles and responsibilities in large-scale distributed systems.
• Background in improving internal developer processes and tooling.
