Description

You will manage, implement, and maintain physical Cassandra databases for the enterprise.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, patch, and maintain Cassandra clusters.
• Design and build database structures from data models and participate in design reviews.
• Perform proactive monitoring, performance tuning, and problem diagnosis across database environments.
• Automate standard DBA tasks using scripts on UNIX and Windows platforms.
• Provide rotating 24x7 on-call support for Cassandra environments.

Required Skills

• Two or more years of experience as a physical DBA on the Cassandra platform.
• Deep understanding of Cassandra architecture, including gossip protocol, hinted handoffs, read repairs, Merkle trees, and SEDA.
• Knowledge of replica placement strategies, partitions, snitches, and dynamic ring participation.
• Five or more years of experience as a physical DBA with a major RDBMS technology.
• Two or more years of experience with SQL.
• Two or more years of experience in database/application performance tuning and monitoring.
• Experience building data architecture models and enforcing enterprise architecture standards.
• Proven ability to implement database high availability solutions.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with other NoSQL database technologies.
• Experience coding or debugging stored procedures in multi-tiered environments.
• Functional experience in the development of railroad application systems.
