Description

You will investigate allegations of statewide discrimination to determine probable cause for discriminatory acts.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews with complainants, respondents, and witnesses via phone, office, or onsite visits using standard investigative principles.
  • Analyze gathered information, including interviews, comparative data, and statistical information.
  • Prepare concise written case analyses detailing violations or non-violations, including facts, observations, and conclusions.
  • Manage a caseload ensuring aged cases exceeding 180 days do not exceed 9% of your total workload.
  • Maintain accurate case file records within paper files and online case management systems.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in civil rights or investigative roles.
  • Thorough knowledge of Indiana Civil Rights Law, Commission rules, regulations, and relevant court decisions.
  • Ability to secure and analyze data and testimony, specifically regarding employment law.
  • Experience conducting difficult, involved investigations and making disposition recommendations.
  • Ability to interpret legal concepts and apply prior decisions to specific cases.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and computer-based case management.
  • Strong ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Skills

  • Background in law or paralegal studies with an emphasis on employment and civil rights laws.
