Description

You will own the AWS environment architecture, governance, and migration strategy for ITS and its agencies.

This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Design, review, and implement AWS solutions that meet performance, security, and scalability requirements.
• Oversee and maintain the existing AWS Organization, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and compliance standards.
• Resolve complex AWS-related issues, including network connectivity, by coordinating with internal teams and agencies.
• Manage vendor relationships with AWS and third-party providers to integrate products into the AWS ecosystem.
• Mentor staff, provide training, and maintain technical documentation, standards, and playbooks.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture or engineering.
• Deep knowledge of core AWS services: EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, and CloudFormation.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools: Terraform and AWS CDK.
• Experience leading cloud migrations or implementations in complex multi-account environments.
• Strong network troubleshooting abilities for issues within AWS and between cloud and on-premises environments.
• Familiarity with AWS Landing Zone implementations and management using AWS Landing Zone Accelerator.
• Experience implementing security best practices, including IAM policies, encryption, network segmentation, and SCPs.
• Knowledge of DevOps principles, containerization (Docker, ECS, EKS), and serverless architectures.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Preferred Skills

• AWS Professional-level certification (e.g., Solutions Architect – Professional, DevOps Engineer – Professional).
• Experience in a government or highly regulated environment (HIPAA, CJIS, IRS 1075 compliance).
• Working knowledge of scripting languages: Python, Bash, PowerShell.
