Description

Automate Google Cloud Compute Engine infrastructure using Packer and Ansible, managing VM lifecycle, image builds, and configuration across Windows and Linux environments.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement automated VM image build pipelines using HashiCorp Packer for Google Cloud Compute Engine.
• Develop reusable golden images for Windows Server and Linux workloads, automating configuration, patching, and hardening with Ansible.
• Manage Compute Engine instances, instance templates, and managed instance groups, integrating with GCP networking, IAM, and storage.
• Integrate Packer and Ansible workflows into CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
• Apply secure baseline configurations and OS hardening controls to ensure compliance with enterprise security and audit requirements.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure automation, system engineering, or DevOps roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with Ansible for configuration management and provisioning.
• Strong hands-on experience with HashiCorp Packer for machine image creation.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform, specifically Compute Engine, IAM, VPC networking, and Cloud Storage.
• Proficiency administering and automating Windows Server and Linux distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Rocky, Ubuntu).
• Scripting experience with Bash, PowerShell, and Python.
• Understanding of infrastructure-as-code, immutable images, and standardized build patterns.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Terraform for GCP infrastructure provisioning.
• Familiarity with security hardening frameworks and vulnerability remediation processes.
• Experience with Active Directory integration and enterprise golden image promotion pipelines.
