Description

You will serve as a DevOps Engineer and Solution Architect to support and upgrade critical on-prem and cloud applications for the myCalPERS system.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate existing applications and define roadmaps for architectural upgrades and enhancements.
• Assess current CI/CD infrastructure, monitoring, security, and compliance to identify bottlenecks and technical debt.
• Develop short, medium, and long-term improvement strategies, including automation opportunities and refactoring plans.
• Implement CI/CD pipeline enhancements, observability stacks, secrets management, and vulnerability scanning.
• Optimize cloud scaling policies, cost structures, and backup/recovery processes for AWS and Azure environments.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of expert-level experience as a DevOps Architect and System Integrator.
• 10+ years of experience as a Solution Architect for complex enterprise-scale applications.
• 5+ years of experience supporting applications on public cloud platforms, specifically AWS and Microsoft Azure.
• Proven track record of implementing solutions using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products.
• Experience in system integration, scalability, and performance optimization.
• Ability to develop technical documentation, standards, and best practices.
• Experience delivering training or knowledge transfer sessions to team members.

Preferred Skills

• Background in public pension systems or similar large-scale regulatory environments.
• Experience modernizing legacy platforms and migrating to cloud-native architectures.
