Description

You will develop, maintain, and enhance custom software solutions on IBM/DELL mainframe operating systems.

Translate analysis and design documents into well-structured COBOL programs. Execute program changes by updating test files, running tests, and reviewing results to ensure correctness. Identify and correct data errors via application logic and develop data analysis reports using IBM and Microsoft tools. Assist with the conversion of COBOL applications to web-based applications. Prepare program-level and user-level documentation to support the full software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Translate analysis, design documents, and specifications into well-structured COBOL programs.
  • Maintain and enhance custom software by modifying batch processing, reports, queries, menus, and user data entry screens.
  • Execute program changes by updating test files, running tests, and reviewing results to ensure correctness.
  • Identify and correct data errors via application logic and develop data analysis reports using IBM and Microsoft tools.
  • Prepare program-level and user-level documentation to support the full software development lifecycle.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in COBOL development on Mainframe.
  • Proficiency with JCL development and maintenance.
  • Hands-on experience with DB2.
  • Experience using Control-M.
  • Solid understanding of the full software development life cycle, including design, development, integration testing, and deployment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, test, and debug software to meet requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills for supporting non-database functions and data error correction.
  • Experience following organizational procedures for source code management and change migration.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience assisting with the conversion of COBOL applications to web-based applications.
