Description

You will analyze mainframe program flows and document technical processes to support development staff and business users.

Responsibilities

• Study mainframe program flows, COBOL programs, copybooks, CICS screens, and database tables to create wiki knowledgebase documentation.
• Collaborate with developers and SMEs to translate complex process flows into formal procedural documents and user guides.
• Analyze business processes and requirements to produce high-quality technical documentation for various audiences.
• Coordinate the layout and organization of technical materials to ensure they are easy to understand.
• Work across core teams to document interfaces between the mainframe and ancillary applications.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of COBOL experience.
• 5+ years of Business Systems Analysis or specification writing experience.
• Proficiency with CICS, JCL, and DB2/SQL.
• Strong knowledge of database architecture principles, including tables, views, and SQL.
• Proven experience in technical writing for software documentation.
• Ability to grasp complex technical concepts and explain them simply in text and pictures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• BA or BS degree, or 10 years of technical writing experience in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Visio, HTML, Datacom, Velocity templating language, or TCL.
• Experience with mobile delivery and searchable online documentation.
