You will design, test, and commission custom switchgear and generator control systems.
Responsibilities
- Execute and support the design, testing, manufacturing, and commissioning of low and medium voltage switchgear.
- Develop PLC programs for generator paralleling switchgear control.
- Provide direction to CAD designers for the creation of wiring and assembly drawings.
- Create bills of materials for switchgear controls within the ERP system.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while interacting with internal and external customers to meet milestones.
Required Skills
- 5-7 years of experience in controls engineering (internships considered, or a Master’s degree with 3+ years, or a 2-year degree with 7+ years).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering.
- Ability to create PLC programs using IEC 61131 languages, including Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, and Structured Text.
- Expert knowledge of at least one PLC platform: Schneider Momentum, M340, M580, AB Control, Compact Logix, Woodward MSLC, DSLC, Easy Gen, or LS5 Architecture.
- Experience designing, testing, and commissioning control systems with various PLC controllers.
- Ability to interpret customer specifications and technical drawings.
- Capability to customize PLC software and hardware templates.
Preferred Skills
- Understanding of NEC, UL 508, UL 891, UL 1558, UL MV, CSA 22-2, and ANSI requirements.
- Knowledge of protective relays and their applications in generator and utility protection.
