Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Core Database Administrator (DBA) responsible for managing, maintaining, securing, and optimizing enterprise database environments. The candidate should have strong hands-on experience in Database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability, troubleshooting, and production support. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, upgrade, patch and maintain databse environments
• Perform Databse administration activities across development, testing, and production environments.
• Monitor Databse heath, performance, capacity and availability.
• Perform Database Performance Tuning, query optimisation and troubleshooting.
• Manage Database backup, restore and recovery activities
• Configure and Support High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), replication, and failover solutions.
• Monitor database jobs, alerts, logs, sessions, locks, and resource utilization.
• Identify and resolve database performance and availability issues.
• Perform database migration, upgrades, and version upgrades.
• Manage users, roles, privileges, access controls, and database security.
• Perform database health checks and capacity planning.
• Support production incidents and participate in 24x7/on-call support when required.
• Work closely with application, infrastructure, development, and security teams.
• Prepare and maintain database documentation, operational procedures, and RCA documents.
• Automate routine DBA activities using scripting/tools wherever possible.

Mandatory Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in Core DBA activities.
• Database installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and maintenance.
• Backup and recovery.
• Performance monitoring and tuning.
• High Availability and Disaster Recovery concepts.
• Database migration and troubleshooting.
• User/role/security management.
• Strong SQL knowledge.
• Experience supporting production/enterprise database environments.
• Good knowledge of Linux/Unix or Windows administration depending on the database platform.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Database Technologies

Experience in one or more of the following database technologies:

• Oracle Database
• Microsoft SQL Server
• MySQL
• PostgreSQL
• DB2

Experience with cloud database platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP will be an added advantage.

Good to Have

• RAC / Data Guard / GoldenGate for Oracle environments.
• Always On / Replication for SQL Server environments.
• PostgreSQL Streaming Replication.
• Database monitoring tools.
• Cloud database migration experience.
• Automation using Shell/Python/PowerShell.
• ITIL / incident and change management processes.
• Experience working in large enterprise production environments
