Description

You will design and implement end-to-end Azure-based data lake architectures using Microsoft Fabric.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Architect secure data lake solutions using Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Data Factory, Synapse, and Power BI.
• Implement ingestion pipelines with scheduled refreshes, delta detection, and lineage tracking.
• Enforce security and compliance controls via Azure Key Vault, Private Endpoints, and Entra ID to meet SOX, HIPAA, and NIST 800-53 standards.
• Lead data governance using Microsoft Purview, Alation, or Collibra for metadata tagging and classification.
• Define integration approaches for SAP, Microsoft Access, IBM, and flat file systems.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience in Data Architecture roles.
• 3+ years delivering secure, compliant architectures for government or regulated industries.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, and Azure Data Factory.
• Proficiency with SAP, Microsoft Access, and IBM data interfaces.
• Hands-on experience with Power BI workspace configuration and shared datasets.
• Deep understanding of SOX, HIPAA, and NIST 800-53 compliance frameworks.
• Expertise in metadata strategy, lineage tracking, and data stewardship.
• Ability to use Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong technical documentation skills using Visio, Draw.io, or TOGAF-aligned modeling.

Preferred Skills

• Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect or Data Engineer.
• Experience with State of Illinois systems.
