Reverse engineer, optimize, and modernize complex database environments.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Reverse engineer database schemas, including tables, indexes, constraints, views, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
• Analyze production data to identify entities, relationships, cardinality, and usage patterns.
• Reconstruct logical and physical ER models and document current-state architectures.
• Read Java services to understand database access patterns, ORM mappings, transaction logic, and schema maintenance.
• Redesign schemas and optimize SQL, execution plans, indexing, and storage strategies for scalability and performance.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in database administration or data architecture.
• Strong expertise in relational database design, SQL optimization, and performance tuning.
• Proven experience reverse engineering undocumented databases and legacy systems.
• Deep understanding of ER modeling, normalization, indexing, and join optimization.
• Read-level Java proficiency with Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, and JDBC.
• Experience with SQL Server or AWS RDS (Managed MS SQL Server).
• Ability to infer business logic from schemas, data, and application behavior.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with schema versioning, CI/CD, and cloud database platforms.
• Experience with monitoring tools and database administration tasks like backup/recovery and HA/DR.
