Key Responsibilities

• Design and govern end-to-end data architecture for Insurance data platforms across ingestion, storage, processing, and analytics layers.
• Define scalable and secure data models aligned with Life, Annuity, and Pre-need insurance business processes.
• Architect cloud-based data solutions by leveraging AWS services, Redshift, and Snowflake.
• Drive data integration strategies between source systems, data warehouses, and downstream analytics/reporting platforms.
• Act as the domain lead for Insurance data initiatives, providing deep insights into policy lifecycle, premiums, claims, underwriting, commissions, and regulatory reporting.
• Partner with business stakeholders to translate business requirements into data architecture and technical solutions.
• Review and validate data definitions, KPIs, and business rules to ensure domain accuracy.
• Provide hands-on guidance for SQL and Python-based data transformations and analytics.
• Define and enforce data standards, best practices, and governance frameworks.
• Support performance tuning, optimization, and cost management for cloud data platforms.
• Review solution designs, code, and data models produced by engineering teams.
• Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, data engineers, and cloud teams.
• Support leadership with architecture roadmaps, estimation, and risk assessment.
• Mentor junior architects and data engineers.

Required Skills & Experience

Experience

• 12+ years of overall IT experience with significant focus on data architecture and analytics platforms.
• Proven experience in the Insurance domain—specifically Life, Annuity, and Pre-need.
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Redshift and Snowflake, including integration patterns.
• Advanced SQL skills for data modeling, transformation, and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in Python for data processing and orchestration.
• Experience with Spark/Scala is a strong plus.
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and data lakes.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to bridge business and technical teams effectively.
• Leadership mindset with experience guiding architecture and delivery decisions.
• Lead data architecture for Life & Annuity insurance, including policy administration, premiums, claims, underwriting, actuarial, reinsurance, and regulatory reporting
• Own domain data models and data products, translating insurance business and compliance requirements into scalable architectures
• Partner with actuarial, operations, and reporting teams to enable risk, valuation, and statutory reporting
• Technical Skills (Common Across All Roles)
• Architect and deliver solutions in an AWS environment
• Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, Iceberg as the primary analytical data platform, with Snowflake integration
• Strong SQL and Python skills for data modeling, transformation, and validation
• Experience with modern data engineering patterns; Spark/Scala nice to have

Nice to Have

• Experience with Insurance regulatory and compliance reporting.
• Exposure to real-time or near-real-time data processing.
• Prior experience in client-facing or consulting roles
