Description

You will lead data modernization efforts for CDC Public Health Infrastructure Grant-funded projects in Jackson, MS. You own the architecture, governance, and execution of agency-wide data initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Oversee cataloging and organization of agency data resources to build a public-facing data catalog.
• Manage collection, organization, and leveraging of large datasets using data lakes, warehouses, and lakehouses.
• Select and implement updated processes for managing external data requests and public records.
• Build and lead support staff to drive data modernization initiatives and meet project deadlines.

Required Skills

• 5+ years overseeing day-to-day aspects of multi-faceted data management or modernization projects.
• Hands-on experience with data lakes, warehouses, catalogs, or lakehouses.
• Proven experience with data management, visualization, and analysis tools.
• Experience managing multiple vendors of modern data management and analysis software.
• Ability to work under national data and IT security standards for protected health information.
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with staff on data resource development.
• Experience managing project budgeting, planning, and organization.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with government entities regarding procurement and purchasing requirements.
• Experience managing projects under federal grant reporting requirements.
