Description

You will manage physical layer infrastructure, including fiber optic and copper cabling, rack installations, and hardware mounting within a data center environment.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Install and mount racks, patch panels, grounding, and hardware.
• Terminate simplex and duplex jumper cords, as well as indoor tight buffered and outside plant fiber.
• Perform mechanical and fusion splicing on all fiber cable types, including building entrance and direct buried splices.
• Execute end-to-end testing and troubleshooting using OTDR, Fluke, and EFXO to identify shorts, opens, and crosses.
• Maintain accurate documentation for work orders, material transfers, and change orders.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in fiber optic environments.
• Proficiency terminating LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA, and MPO/MTP connectors.
• Hands-on experience with SMF and MMF systems using Unicam, anaerobic, and heat-cure methods.
• Expertise in testing and troubleshooting using OTDR and PMLS.
• Ability to use trade tools including punch tools (110/66 block), tone sets, and crimp tools.
• Capability to work at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
• Calculate end-to-end loss budgets in accordance with TIA/EIA standards for single-mode and multi-mode fiber.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Skills

• Industry certifications such as Corning or FOA.
• Prior experience with OSP, confined space entry, or data center installations.
