Description

Manage physical layer infrastructure, fiber optic splicing, and network testing within the data center environment.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Mount and install racks, patch panels, hardware, and grounding for equipment and cabling.
• Perform fusion and mechanical splicing on all fiber types, including building entrance, maintenance space, and direct buried splices.
• Terminate and breakout outside plant fiber, indoor tight buffered multimode, and single-mode fiber.
• Execute end-to-end testing and troubleshooting using OTDR, Fluke, and EFXO to resolve network-wide problems.
• Calculate end-to-end loss budgets in accordance with TIA/EIA standards and complete all technical documentation.

Required Skills

• Experience with LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA, and MP0/MTP connectors.
• Proficiency in terminating SMF and MMF systems using Unicam, anaerobic, and heat-cure methods.
• Hands-on experience with OTDR, PMLS, and continuity testing.
• Ability to perform copper termination using tone sets, volt-ohmmeters, and punch tools (110/66 block).
• Proficiency with trade tools including cable strippers, crimp tools, and Krone/3M/BIX tools.
• Physical ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and lift up to 75 pounds.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Skills

• 3-5 years of fiber experience.
• Corning or FOA industry certifications.
• Prior data center installation or OSP/Confined Space Entry experience.
