Description

You will manage fiber optic installation, termination, and testing within a data center environment.

Responsibilities

• Install and mount racks, patch panels, hardware, and grounding systems.
• Terminate simplex and duplex jumper cords, outside plant fiber, and indoor tight-buffered multi-mode and single-mode fiber.
• Perform fusion and mechanical splicing on all fiber cable types, including building entrance and direct buried splices.
• Execute end-to-end testing and troubleshooting using OTDR, Fluke, and EFXO to identify and correct network-wide issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation for work orders, material transfers, and change orders.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in terminating all connector types (LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA, MP0/MTP) for SMF and MMF systems.
• Hands-on experience with Unicam, anaerobic, and heat-cure termination methods.
• Expertise in testing and troubleshooting MMF and SMF systems using OTDR and PMLS.
• Ability to use trade tools including tone sets, volt-ohmmeters, punch tools (110/66 block), and combo crimp tools.
• Calculate end-to-end loss budgets in accordance with TIA/EIA standards.
• Physical ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and lift up to 75 pounds.
• Experience with OSP and fiber breakout installation.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Skills

• 3-5 years of fiber-specific experience.
• Industry certifications such as Corning, FOA, or BICSI.
